About

I studied computer science at ETH Zurich and got into machine learning through neuroscience, training models to decode brain signals from EEG data. I then spent time at MIT working on psycholinguistics and language modeling, trying to understand how prosody and text carry meaning together.

In my private life, a paradox I noticed is that everyone talks about therapy but almost nobody actually goes. After my own experience struggling to find support, I started playing around with GPT-2 and GPT-3 to see if AI could help. That became Sonia.

I'm now the co-founder and CEO at Sonia. We went through Y Combinator and are based in San Francisco. I still do research, mostly on AI safety and crisis detection in mental health.

Sonia

An operating system for your inner life.

Sonia is voice-first AI for mental health support and personal growth. We built it because everyone deserves access to support—not just those who can afford it or navigate a months-long waitlist. Think of it as an operating system to navigate your personal life and figure things out.
